Get the Details on WET the spa at the TI
My two and a half hours of bliss began when Leslie my massage therapist came to get me in the lounge while I sipped on herbal ice tea and read trashy magazines. (I was a little late as I was caught up trying to change a crowded diaper while assembling a puzzle of the fifty states) I followed her through a maze of massage and facial rooms to where the adventure began. Leslie worked out a great deal of the kinks with a Swedish massage in the small time she had, in fact it was a full body massage on only the back side of my body, which was fine with me since I don’t even like looking at me from the front side these days (again I love my kids). After my all to brief massage I was escorted back to the lounge where I and other naked women in TI robes and plastic slippers read the latest gossip about celebrities who probably have this treatment on a regular basis. I wonder what they read when waiting for a facial, do they read about themselves?
Heather my facial specialist who by the way had youthful, flawless skin, lead me to another dark room with music that I could not understand, it was however relaxing. She began by steaming my face. She gave me the facial options, ex foliating of black heads and clogged pores (pimple popping) or the anti aging. I opted for youthful looking skin which promised to smooth the fine lines and restore vitality to my dehydrated skin. The anti aging would possibly do something for the onslaught of spit-up and drool that is a daily occurrence for my pores. After cleansing and smoothing Heather applied an Alpha Hydroxy Treatment which set me back an additional $40, but since it’s Vegas and I was pampering myself, the cost didn’t sting nearly as much as the treatment itself. I figured forty bucks and four additional minutes was a small price to pay for more firmer and toned skin. Heather lathered, cleansed, sponged away and gave me a neck and shoulder massage. It was wonderful and a week later my skin still felt softer and smoother.
The final leg of my journey to bliss came when Juliette my manicurist lead me to yet another room with manicure tables and large black pedicure chairs with tubs that filled with cascading waterfalls to soak your feet in. She began by soaking my toes and ex foliating dead foot skin with a pumice stone. I then got my nails cut and shaped which is always too ticklish for me. The best part of the treatment came when Juliette massaged my feet and calves and hands with a nice smelling cream, I literally felt it in my scalp.
Next the Paraffin treatment. My manicurist brought out a tub of very warm paraffin which is like melted candle wax. I dipped my hands and feet in the solution and it immediately hardened so I looked like a wax figure. I was left with my hands and feet wrapped in plastic bags for about 10 minutes while I relaxed. The paraffin was then gently pulled off like a glove and finally my nails were polished a bright summer hue called Bike ride. I’m not sure how pink is associated with a bike ride, perhaps they think your backside will turn that color after sitting on those uncomfortable seats for an extended period of time.
I sat in the lounge while I waited for my nails to dry while I sipped on a fruit smoothie with all of the other women who were far too relaxed to strike up conversation. I watched as women changed into work out clothes to use the fitness machines and head to the saunas, which by the way are included in the price of any of the treatments. I on the other hand preferred to flip through the favorite pictures of celebrities while I enjoyed my last few minutes of freedom. Of course when I returned to my hotel room I had to change my son’s diaper and outfit and then prepare myself for three continuous hours of being splashed in the face with chlorinated water by my four-year-old.
Just another day!
