Saw the Show October 2007

Pro: Elton's brilliant songs, voice, and piano playing

Con: Most of the videos were distracting

As a long-time EJ fan (1973) I have seen the Rocketman in concert a half dozen times and each time was a wonderful experience. I found the RPT a bitter-sweet combination of Elton's brilliance as a performer being upstaged by the rather mediocre videos. They ranged from distracting to borderline offensive.

The seating at Caesars is cramped and not at all comfortable (must Caesars be so greedy as to cram people together as sardines?). The show would have played better by showing closeups of Elton and his piano playing other than the rather mundane and over-the-top videos.

If watching men snort cocaine off of a bare man and also seeing a woman's genitals catch fire is art then I didn't get it.

Just because Las Vegas is today's modern Sodam and Gomorrah doesn't mean I want to see it at a concert. If you can forget the "artistic" filth and just enjoy Elton and his band then you will, like me, be glad that you at least went and experienced it.

Will I try to see Elton again in concert? Absolutely! Would I go to his RPT again? Not ever.
