Visited November 2006
Con:Inconsistent service levels, doubtful if amenities are worth price.
First off, we typically go out to Vegas 2 or 3 times a year, and try to stay at different hotels each visit. With that being the said, we've managed to stay at several of the hotels and seen a lot of variance between the different properties.
We stayed at THE Hotel the week after Thanksgiving 2006. This is a great time to go since there aren't as many people out in Vegas then. We stayed in one of their regular rooms, which is pretty much a suite in many of the other hotels. It consisted of a living room with flat screen tv, a couch, minibar, and separate bathroom (nice touch), a bedroom with a full wall armoire, large comfortable bed, and large bathroom.
The accomodations were very nice and comfortable, though the cleaning staff had yet to make an appearance after we checked in (around 6pm). The check-in process was fast and professional, with a well trained desk staff. I wish that training had also been done with the cleaning crew. We got to the room and it had not been cleaned that day at all. It looked like a train wreck. We contacted the front desk and they quickly moved us to a new room, which involved another trip to the front desk.
We got to room #2 tired after traveling all day, and noticed - no towels argggh! Called again to the front desk (by this time we knew the staffer pretty well), and requested towels. Towels arrived, and now we could clean up and go out. After all of this was straightened out, the remainder went real smoothly. The front desk personnel gave us a room credit to offset the chaos that we experienced at check-in.
All in all, a nice hotel, with courteous professional staff, but considering that the room rate is frequently as much as Wynn's, I might choose Wynn's over THE Hotel. However, if you manage to find a room rate here that is a good deal, then THE Hotel is a great step up from your average Vegas hotel.
