Stars are out tonight

By Zeke Quezada, About.com Guide

CEO and executive Co-Producer Bonnie Jo Parker of Gala Entertainment teamed with two-time Olympian and World Professional Champion Gary Visconti to launch this ambitious new entertainment venture. “This whole exciting production started over a conversation in an ice-rink coffee shop,” says Parker who raised nearly three million dollars from inspired investors to put the show on the ice. “We wanted to bring something new to today’s skating shows and create a whole new excitement about this beautiful sport,” says Parker. “We brought out America’s Olympic heroes & heroines, Dick Button, Jo Jo Starbuck and Kenney Shelley, Tai Babilonia & Randy Gardner, Rudy Galindo, Scott Davis, & Nicole Bobek,” says Visconti. “They love the show concept and hope to make appearances in Las Vegas as we bring the show to the fabulous Caesars Palace venue.”

Elvis Stojko says he is excited to be coming to Las Vegas to skate for this new show. “Gala Entertainment really impressed all of us who skated in Long Beach this month,” says the Olympic silver medalist and seven-time Canadian National Champion. “The show is inspiring to those of us who grew up admiring the beauty and grandeur of real production numbers.” Dan Hollander says he is already a big fan of the beautiful new show. “It’s so great, I only wish I had thought of it!” exclaims Hollander. US Men’s National Champion and World medalist Rudy Galindo says the show brings back a needed nostalgia in the sport. “I fell in love with skating because of these ice extravaganzas,” says Galindo. “The skaters who launched ‘Legends on Ice’ were and still are my heroes.”

Parker’s new format combines ice skating for recreation, with lessons and theatrical performance. The ice-rink is being brought into Caesars by Gala Entertainment and will be open to the public for skating through January 15, 2005. Two-time Olympian and veteran skating coach Gary Visconti will be general manager of the rink while national competitor and veteran skating coach Bonnie Jo Parker will run a skating school offering lessons to the public and a chance to skate with the stars.
