Day Trip from Las Vegas

By Zeke Quezada, About.com

Valley of Fire State Park

Description of the Valley of Fire State Park:
You can see some great sandstone formations as well as visible signs of ancient residents of the area. This area just north of Las Vegas is a photographers dream. Early evening light introduces you to colors you never knew existed. The park is 55 miles from the strip and the visitor’s center is the perfect place to start your tour.

Get off the strip for a few hours and take this quick trip out to the desert. If you have not spent anytime in the Nevada Desert you will enjoy the change of pace.
