In the 24-hour culture that is Las Vegas, it is no surprise 24-hour cafés abound in nearly every hotel and casino in the area. Cafés offer casual dining at modest prices. Menus include choices for breakfast, lunch, dinner and a variety of desserts and many offer breakfast 'round-the-clock.'
Entertainment Dining
Dining and entertainment go hand-in-hand at several locations throughout Southern Nevada. Dinner theater options include the "Tournament of Kings" where guests are transported to the feasts of the Renaissance while watching a knightly battle.
For a "Sopranos"-esque evening, the Aladdin offers "Ba Da Bing: Surprise Party for Mr. Big." Guests actively participate as several "families" sit down for what's supposed to be a friendly surprise dinner for Mr. B. But things quickly spiral out of control when the families fight in a comedic fashion. Guests can help finger suspects infiltrating the party, dance the Tarantella or participate in a contest to jump out of the birthday cake.
If you're in the mood for love, how about "Tony 'n' Tina's Wedding" at the Rio All Suites Hotel and Casino? Be a special guest of Anthony Nunzio Jr. and Valentina Lynne Vitale, an Italian-American couple who come from two slightly dysfunctional families. The wedding is complete with drunken guests, a pregnant maid of honor, an impromptu "YMCA" dance and of course, family bickering. Guests can either participate in the wedding with actors who never step out of character or they can simply watch the family drama unfold.
Themed Restaurants
Las Vegas also boasts a bevy of themed restaurants. Trekkies can enjoy a meal among their favorite characters at Quark's Bar & Grill at Star Trek: The Experience. Music connoisseurs can nosh on gourmet hamburgers while soaking up the unique atmosphere and music memorabilia at the Hard Rock Café. Planet Hollywood serves up the best Hollywood fare, while NASCAR Café and ESPNZone are must-sees for sports enthusiasts. Finally, the Harley-Davidson Café serves up chow for Hog aficionados.
Wine Spectators
Wine connoisseurs can toast the many restaurants that have received honors for their extensive and exquisite wine lists. Aureole at Mandalay Bay and Valentino's at the Venetian were among 95 restaurants worldwide to receive the "Grand Award" in 2002, Wine Spectator Magazine's highest honor.
Las Vegas is home to 12 of the 56 U.S. master sommeliers; there are 107 master sommeliers worldwide. In addition, out of the 10 female sommeliers worldwide, eight are in Las Vegas.
