It’s something you have inside you and then you work to perfect it only to have to hone it over and over the entire course of your career. It would seem that the right combination of luck, talent and opportunity is still not enough. Somehow the blue collar work ethic of dark late night sets and never ending bus rides is just a tiny fraction of what it takes to make it in stand-up.
When you do make it, you get to live out a dream, “I’ve always wanted a comedy club, it’s a passion, after 30 years on the road I always knew how I would do it.” Garrett expressed his desires amongst a crowd of fans that are most likely far more familiar with Brad Garrett the actor instead of Brad Garret the stand-up comic. His new comedy club at the MGM Grand is just that, a realization of a dream.
The new Brad Garrett Comedy Club at the MGM Grand will be the only comic owned comedy club in the nation. Garrett has already had a hand in the design and will have a hand in booking the acts. He hopes to develop a bit of a hangout for the best comedians in the country as well as a showcase of the talent that comes through Las Vegas. His list of friends helps that as he mentions that he has already tapped into his network and hopes that he’ll have a few drop–ins from other acts that are currently headlining at the Mirage.
This “dream project” of an old school comedy club from a guy who started out at the Desert Inn and has made his way up and down the Las Vega strip opens April Fools Weekend, 2012 at the MGM Grand.
“You gotta grease the door guy, but he’s old school so a dollar will do.” Brad chuckled as he said it but Las Vegas needs a little bit more of that old school vibe.

Tickets for Brad Garrett’s Comedy Club: General admission tickets are priced at $59 and $79 when Garrett appears on stage, or $39, $49 and $59 during non-Garrett performances, not including applicable service charges and taxes. All tickets go on sale Friday, Jan. 20 at 10 a.m. and will be sold at any MGM Grand ticket outlet and all Las Vegas Ticketmaster locations.
