Free Attractions in Las Vegas

By , About.com Guide

In Las Vegas money can disappear quite quickly, you double down with the dealer showing a 6 and soon you find they draw into a 21 and you doubled your loss. These attractions cost you nothing and they are totally worth it!

1. The Sexy Sirens of TI

Zeke Quezada
Pirates and gunfire and smoke and screaming all for free in front of the Treasure Island Hotel. Yeah, I don't get it but everyday people cram in front to watch the battle and everyday they clap at the end. It's free and i will have to admit it was entertaining the first 15 times I saw it.

2. Erupting Volcano at the Mirage

Stand up close to an erupting volcano as you hold a giant Margarita to help you enjoy the show. The volcano still draws plenty of people to the front of the Mirage every night.

The Volcano is all new and you will be scorched by the free show in front of the Mirage. Prepare yourself, though, it is only at the top of the hour and the show last just over 5 minutes. It is an only in Vegas type of thing but does suck away sometime if you decide to wait for a good place to watch.

3. Bellagio Fountains

Still the best free attraction in Las Vegas. If you sit around long enough you get two shows for the price of one and yet still have paid exactly nothing. I love Las Vegas! The show goes on every 1/2 hour during the day and after 8 it's every 15 minutes. What will you do with all the money you save on entertainment?

4. Masquerade in the Sky at the Rio

Women toss beads at you as you try to pump a slot machine full of nickels, the music is really loud and you get a nutty inclination to shake your hips. You're at the Rio Suites and the show in the sky is on, it's free and the drinks are free as long as you continue to play those machines!

5. The Lion Habitat at MGM Grand Hotel

If you get lucky you might actually see the lions move, most days though they just sit around and try to figure out why you are staring at them. Watching is free, take a picture to prove to people you actually were next to a lion and they charge you.

6. The Flamingo Gardens and Wildlife

Take a walk out back and you run into different bird species including the Flamingos. If you take the walk late in the evening you run into the other kid of wildlife that walks on two feet and takes in too many free drinks.

7. Fremont Street Experience Downtown Las Vegas

Fremont Street is where the light shows are free, look up and you get an eyeful with an impressive free show that entertains you with lights synchronized to music. Yeah, it's free, gratis, nothing coming out of your pocket. That is until you discover deep fried twinkies and oreo's.

8. Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens

Sure the Bellagio is one of the most expensive hotels in Las Vegas but it does have two of the best free attractions on the strip. The Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens is an impressive display of creativity using flowers, plants and natural products. It is a bit like the Rose Parade all year long.
