Claude Monet: Impressions of Light at Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art

Claude Monet, Camille Monet and a Child in the Artist’s Garden in Argenteuil, 1875, Oil on canvas, 21 3/4 x 25 1/2 inches, Collection Museum of Fine Arts, Boston;

This collection has moved on and Andy Warhol "Warhol Out West" is now in the gallery though October 9, 2013.

If you stand in front of Cap d' Antibes, Mistral by Cluade Monet long enough you can imagine yourself on a sailboat. You can almost feel the wind, the mistral, coming down the coast and slightly nudging you to look out at the Mediterranean Sea. South of you is Cannes and north is Nice but this hillside seems like the right spot to sit.

Art can do that to you. It can move you. It can inspire you and Monet has a tendency to inspire me so the idea that I could go to the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art before I head to HYDE lounge is exciting. I'm not sure I'll find anyone who is familiar with Antibes Seen from the Plateau Notre-Dame or Valley of the Petite Creuse but I'll be able to strike up a conversation about art in Las Vegas. Surely, I'll find someone who wants to discuss Claude Monet.

If not, I'll just stand in front of Grainstack (Sunset) and imagine the changing light and the changing seasons.

"Claude Monet: Impressions of Light" is at the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art through January 6, 2013. The gallery will be showing 20 Monet pieces as well as 8 additional pieces by other artists of the impressionist period: Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot, Camille Pissarro, Eugene Louis Boudin, Charles-Francois Daubigny, Constant Troyon and Paul Signac.

All of these works are organized in a partnership with the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA)which holds one of the largest collections of Claude Monet.
