What is the Las Vegas Area Code?

By Zeke Quezada, About.com

Question: What is the Las Vegas Area Code?
When you start planning that trip there are always little things you might need to know so I have tried to put them together in an easy to find way. The information should help you with some of the questions you have about Las Vegas.
Just click on “Basic info” in the upper left hand corner of the page or search the site using the search tool on the top of the page.

Answer: Area Code – Las Vegas, (702) has a large calling area that includes the surrounding communities of Henderson, Green Valley, Boulder City, Mt. Charleston and the Stateline exits of Jean and Primm. Laughlin the little gambling haven along the Colorado River is also in the (702) area code but is considered long distance so you will have to dial the area code first and then the number.

Most hotels are charging to make local locals these days. These charges generally are from 50 cents to $3. You might want to consider using the pay phones in the lobby of most hotels or your own mobile phone. You will quickly realize that Las Vegas is one of the few places where you can get a great signal within an enclosed space.

Directory assistance can be reached by dialing 411.
