What it’s like at McFadden’s Restaurant and Saloon?
The open dinning area is good for a comfortable lunch and an early dinner. The atmosphere is comfortable and easy going and when the crowds build later in the evening you can find a spot to stand around and have a beer. Hence, it is more like a saloon in that case.
If you are looking to have a good time, have a few beers and something decent to eat McFadden’s a good choice. Do not under any circumstances try to pass off McFadden’s as a nice place to eat just to get a peek at a sporting event or to over indulge in a few drinks, it is not fine dining. Your significant other might not be too happy with your selection. Try Nine Fine Irishmen at the Ny/Ny if Irish Pub Fare in a nice setting is what you are looking for.
When McFadden’s get going you will be in for a ride. What was once a comfortable open space where a meal and a beer could be enjoyed can easily turn into a hot spot where people are trying to get in and you never want to leave. McFadden’s is a cheap and fun alternative to the Las Vegas nightlife scene.
How’s the food at McFadden’s Restaurant and Saloon?
I have had burgers around town and the truth is most fall into a very average category. The Burger at McFadden's is a notch above those found on the strip with a few exceptions of course. The ½ pound burger is $10.45 and I will tell you that it is worth it. It comes attached to some tasty fries and if you sit at the bar, munch on some fresh potato chips that are in the clever baskets right at your fingertips and you will be very satisfied.
One beer, one burger and a bill for under $20, that is a steal in Las Vegas.
Other things you might consider, the Shrimp Cocktail for $10.95. The cocktail sauce nails you in the back of the head just like good cocktail sauce should. I love a horseradish headache! Six large Shrimp begging to be dipped deep into the cranium cracking sauce.
The lamb stew is hearty and can be filling if you do not have a large appetite. That is not to say that it is not good, just that if you love to eat, as I do, you’ll be left wanting a bit more. At $16, I am not sure you want to be spending your beer money on soup.
Try the Reuben and you get a decent sandwich for a reasonable price at $10.95.
One more thing, beers are $6 and that presents the Las Vegas dilemma, pay for something that is free 10 feet away? Make a quick trip to the restroom if you really feel like you don’t want to pay for a beer. Step up to the bar, put a bill into the video poker machine and get a beer, cash out and walk away.
