What it’s like at Taqueria Canonita?

Sit at the bar and you run the risk of drinking too much. Well, you probably have discipline that I have never possessed. I sit at the bar and I have to try a few shots of Tequila. The shots help wash down the chips and salsa. The dining room has a great view of the canals and it make s you feel as if you were in Italy and some Mexican guy decided to sell tacos in Venice.

My wife thinks this place is very romantic because you can hear the gondoliers as they sing in the canals. The place is very comfortable and you get very good value for your dollar. Taqueria Canonita is probably the least expensive of the restaurants at the Venetian and you might find yourself considering a return trip.

How’s the food at Taqueria Canonita?

Are you a fan of Chips and salsa? Well, stay away from them at Taqueria Canonita. That is all it take to ruin your meal. One beer and a half hour chips and salsa and I was not hungry any more. They are addicting!

However, the ceviche is a great starter and if you control yourself with the chips you open up some space for the mussels bathed in roasted garlic.

The Tortilla Soup is tasty but not over the top great, just good. The Shrimp enchiladas will make you consider booking a trip to Oaxaca and the Vera Cruz fish will make you long for an ocean front restaurant and a Spanish speaking server.

If you are looking for a cheap meal it’s possible by ordering the taco platter that comes with the beans and rice. One beer, two tacos, rice, beans and some chips and salsa and you are out of there for less than $20.
