What it's like at Canaletto?
Have a seat outside and enjoy the sights and sounds of Las Vegas. SO much is happening in the square that you'll find the time breezes past. It can get loud if you have a meal outside but you can opt to eat in the dining room where things are quieter. The service is average and each time I have had a meal things run smoothly but the servers are not as pleasant as you might expect. They are not mean, they just seem to be going about their business.
How’s the food at Canaletto?
A caprese salad, a margherita pizza and a glass of Chianti. A $40 dollar meal that will leave you satisfied. Cut out the wine and you save yourself $15. Don't lose the wine, the pours are generous and you'll enjoy the scenery of the square I tiny bit more with that relaxed feeling you get from a glass of wine.
The Risotto Gran Duca: butternut squash, arugula, oyster mushrooms crispy shallots gorgonzola and parmesan, a bit too many ingredients if you love simple but the flavors are well worth the complicated recipe.
Simple pomodoro with linguine: If summer was just about the heat you would be bitter, but tomatoes flourish in the heat and the pomodoro showcases the flavors of the tomato so well. Grab a bottle and sit down with a little basil, garlic, olive oil and linguine. You might want to warn your taste buds.
Meat sauce: If you had an aunt with flowing black hair and a stature so commanding that an entire village in Tuscany was in love with her, she probably also made a meat sauce that made every man swoon. Sure she gained a few pounds after she came to America but her food has probably gotten better and is very similar to Canaletto.
Risotto fillante: simple and delicious. A hint of capers at the end will give you the chills. In a good way. Share this dish as an appetizer or a small meal and you will be pleased. It does garner a ton of space in your gut so if this is your single portion you might not finish it.
Insalata balsamico: Simple afternoon salad that makes going back to the pool much easier.
Gamberoni alla Busara: giant prawns, garlic, and brandy with capers marinara. The flavor of the prawns and the garlic will entice you to drink more wine. You have to love eating in Las Vegas.
After our latest meal at Canaletto my son simply said, “I ate so much, I feel like Scooby-Doo and Shaggy after emptying out a cafeteria.”
Yes, you can take your kids to nice places in Las Vegas.
