About the show: The World's Greatest Magic Show isn't just about illusions. Rather, its variety-show format keeps acts hopping from one to another, introducing the audience to a wide array of magical genres and personalities.
Each performance consists of seven to 10 magicians - a rotating roster of regulars and featured magicians. You never know what you're going to get, and that's part of the magic, literally. Among the standouts is Dirk Losander, who regularly appears. His ability to animate to handkerchiefs is astounding. And his levitating skills - whether he's lifting a torch, a table or one of your fellow audience members - are a true showstopper.
Other magicians' skills run the gamut. Watch as one illusionist draws a bowling ball on a pad of paper, only to turn that paper upside down and, klunk, an actual bowling ball hits the stage. See humans disappear and then reappear. From comedy to sleight of hand to cakes cooked in shoes, The World's Greatest Magic Show is as eclectic as they come. It was voted "Show of the Year" by the International Magician's Society in 2004 and 2005, and is highly regarded in magician's circles.
The 400-seat showroom at the Greek Isles is a gem, likely because Debbie Reynolds designed it when she used to own the hotel. The lighting and sound system are remarkable, considering the size and off-Strip location of the building. But it won't be around long. The owners of the Greek Isles plan to implode and redevelop the property in fall of 2008.
