Website: Improv at Harrah's

Description: The Improv at Harrah's is one of a dozen outposts of the legendary New York club that’s been launching comedy careers -- Richard Lewis and Jay Leno to name two -- since 1963. Each hour-long set features three top-notch newcomers who just might follow in their footsteps.

Show times: 8:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. nightly; closed Monday

Ticket information: Tickets are $29.05 plus taxes and fees (a $44.95 V.I.P. package includes a seat upgrade and T-shirt), and available by calling (702) 369-5223, visitingImprov at Harrah's Tickets, or in person at the Improv box office. You must be 18 to attend.

About Harrah's Las Vegas Casino and Hotel: This older, 2,500-room property lacks new-Vegas sheen, but it offers reasonable rates, a plum mid-Strip location, and all the gambling perks (through the Total Rewards program) that make the Harrah’s franchise so popular.

Pre-show dining: At Harrah's, upscale choices include the Range (for dry-aged steaks and a rare view of the Strip), and the Oyster Bar at Penazzi for fresh seafood. Find casual fare at Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill and the Flavors Buffet.
