About the Double Down Saloon: If the luxe sheen of Las Vegas makes you yearn for its seedier past, take a sentimental journey to the Double Down, where the air is stale, the music is loud, and the signature drink is called Ass Juice (and should you have too many of those, the house rule -- "You puke, you clean" -- is rigorously enforced). This dank little off-Strip dive draws skaters, punks, goths, barflies and that breed rarely spotted in party Vegas: locals. They come for the legendary jukebox, stuffed with everything from ska to Sinatra, for the cheap drinks and house specialties (try the bacon martini -- invented on the premises -- and the aforementioned Ass Juice, whose recipe is closely guarded by the well-inked barstaff), and to get away from the tourists.
Entertainment: Live bands with names like the Meat Sluts and Evil Beaver rock the tiny stage a few nights a week.
Hours: 24 hours a day
Prices: No cover; drinks run about $3 to $7.
