What was once one of the gems of Las Vegas now is treated like a second rate budget hotel, but this is to your advantage. The Riviera is located on the North End of the strip so it’s location is a bit of a disadvantage but with Wynn Las Vegas and Encore nearby and the Peppermill lounge next door you can have a lot of fun for a smaller price. Great entertainment, decent food and a spacious casino right on the strip.

What you might like at the Riviera Hotel and Casino:
Crazy Girls and An Evening at La Cage are all entertaining shows that compare to the shows that you find at the larger resorts but for a better price. The food court makes quick meals a breeze and cannot be more convenient. Gambling here is the prize because you will see lower limits tables and looser slots.
What you might not like at the Riviera Hotel and Casino:
If you’re looking for hip Las Vegas those days have left the Riviera behind, the feeling is a bit old at the Riviera. It could be a good thing if you really do not enjoy the snot nosed thirty year olds.

My suggestion:
Take advantage of the good room rates and low cost food and use that money to see a few shows. You do have to walk next door to the Peppermill and have a drink in the original Las Vegas lounge.

Rooms at the Riviera Hotel and Casino: 2000+ rooms that are generally similar in look and feel. They feel a little old relative to the rest of the strip. However, for the price you get plenty, nothing fancy but clean and nice. Rates can start as low as $40
