The Bottom Line
A sight to be seen. A sandy beach, waves crashing at your feet and waitresses bringing you drinks as often as you want them. Lots of plastic surgery but don't let that stop you from pulling off that shirt and showing off your jelly roll.
Pros
- 11 Acres of pure fun in a tropical environment
- 6 Foot waves in a huge wave pool
- A lazy river that slowly moves and cools you.
Cons
- Sand, it gets everywhere
- Too many "loungers" in the wading pool
- If you have kids you must watch out for the drinkers
Description
- A 41,000 square foot wave pool with waves as high as 6 feet is the centerpiece of this little gem.
- You can sit on a raft and float along on the lazy river all day.
- The beach area consists of 1,700 tons of sand, which is good for effect but bad for your crevasses
- The small wading area is great for young kids if the crowds are not too big
- Silicon valley is definitely relocated to the beach on weekends.
- During the cooler months the water is heated and the crowds are much smaller.
Guide Review - Mandalay Beach Las Vegas
My son and I made our way to the wading area in the shallow end of the main pool and it resembled a billabong in Eastern Australia. Everywhere you looked all the sun worshipers had taken up the space baking to a golden "burn". They literally could have passed for crocs on the banks of a watering hole, moving only to warm a different spot. So, I carried him to the 3 foot sign and we waited for the waves to splash us with refreshing water. This is a great pool for the kids but you really have to get to the pool early or late if you want your kids to have fun. If you intend on having fun, get there about 10 am and get a good seat near the water and watch some of the best plastic surgery work to come out of West L.A. strut by. Male and female.
