Hockey at the MGM Grand Las Vegas

Frozen Fury 9 - L.A. Kings vs. Colorado Avalanche

By Zeke Quezada, About.com

Hockey is invading the MGM Grand Garden Arena on September 23. The Los Angeles Kings take on the Colorado Avalanche at 7:30 p.m. in “Frozen Fury 9”. I should make it clear that I am a hockey fan and therefore I believe you as a Las Vegas visitor would enjoy yourself at this event.

Rob Blake and the Los Angeles Kings will take on the Colorado Avalanche as the All Star defenseman takes on his old team. These games feel like playoff matches and you can be sure that you will feel the building shaking with each thunderous check into the boards.

Find tickets at MGM Grand. Check out the sites of the respective teams at Colorado Avalanche and Los Angeles Kings.

You can also read about where the fans go before the big game to get ready to cheer their team on. This is the important location. Check out LetsGoKings.com for the latest information on the huge before game party. You can also look to Avszone to find out about where the Avalanche fans will be.

A small note, do not expect too much from the Avalanche fans as they have a tendency to hover around the buffets, stand in front of the Bellagio waiting for the next fountain show or just watch the talking statues at Caesars. They root for the Avalanche, what can you expect?

As for the Kings fans you can probably expect to redefine your idea of tailgating. The party will probably begin early in the afternoon and make its way straight through the hockey game and then deep into the night.

If you’re looking for more hockey in Las Vegas the ECHL has a hockey team in the Las Vegas Wranglers . They begin their season on October 20.

There is nothing like a big frozen sheet of ice in the middle of the desert.

For those of you Colorado fans that have taken exception to my categorization of your ability to have a good time, please except my sincere apologies as I am and always will be a King fan!

Tickets: Tickets priced at $200 (front row ice), $65, $35 and $25, not including applicable service charges and taxes, are available at any MGM Grand box office outlet.
