What itis like at Alize? The large display of glass hold its extensive wine selection and the wait staff here are more than happy to help you with whatever you may need. The lighting could use some help but it lends to the atmosphere of a high end dining establishment. However, the people who work here are way too nice to make you feel out of place or as if you are part of an elite class that is willing to drop $300 for a meal before you even look at the wine list.

Alize is named after the trade winds that make their way across the Caribbean but I do not get that sense here. The views forbid me to think about anything but quintessential Las Vegas dining and the experiences that are truly only found in Vegas. Alize is Vegas.

The view at Alize at the top of the Palms Hotel is outrageous, you can see the entire valley from this vantage point. Like the Top of the world restaurant at the Stratosphere this place gets great reviews that always start with, "the view is great" The food is good but it will cost you. If you are into wine I would suggest taking your heart medication before looking at the wine list and its prices.

How's the food at Alize?

The peppercorn crusted Fillet Mignon is incredible served with a Cognac cream sauce that actually makes you want to lick your fingers. Heirloom Tomato Salad is captivating but I’m not sure if it's worth the price that hovers just over $15. The Ahi Tuna tar tare and the jumbo scallops are impressive.

Unless you really love the French, take in the view from the Ghost Bar and have dinner elsewhere. If you love Andre's cooking, splurge, it's well worth it. The wine list, however, is sick, don't even think about spending that much.

I should say it again, the food is fantastic but the prices seem to be a bit of a stretch. The wine is very overpriced and ultimately you end up spending far more than the meal is worth.

However, if you think you want a romantic evening overlooking Las Vegas and you consider a pricey meal every now and then. Order a decent bottle and give that special someone a wet kiss. You can't take it with you, you might as well enjoy it.
