Macadamia nuts remind me of being young and wasting time in Honolulu. Sweet creme, macadamia nuts and banana pancakes remind me of Maui. Well, then why am I telling you about them right now? If you walk into Citizens at Mandalay Bay for breakfast they have some banana pancakes that are as close to a getaway to Hawaii as you can get. You won't get a view of Molokai in the distance and they won't come with a side of Portuguese sausage but you will get a huge breakfast and a tiny dose of that island flavor. If you stick around long enough you can also add in a few of their meatballs or maybe even a sandwich or two.
Citizens is the Mandalay Bay Resort's answer to the 24 hour cafe and they do a decent job of making sure you crave a little something deep in to the evening. Step in after a night at the club and share their French dip or just hover over an order of their loaded potato. It is not for the person who is watching their calories but if there was ever a reason to disregard the diet it is this simple side that packs so much buttery love.
Breakfast is the draw for me. Make sure to consider splitting a meal as it seems to me that prices are a bit on the high side but the portions are ample.
