If you have never driven out in to the Southwest of the United States you have never seen the Joshua Trees cast long shadows in the late afternoon. You probably have never seen the way the rocks change colors. The truth is you are missing out on the great light show in the sky as the stars come out and keep you company. Las Vegas is so close to so many impressive natural wonders you could spend your time heading from one National Park to another and never spend anytime in a casino. You might as well start with the Grand Canyon.

Grand Canyon Day Trip From Las Vegas
When you step out on the rim of the Grand Canyon and look down you instantly feel small and young. The depth is hard to comprehend and the forces of nature that took millions of years to carve the canyon put time into perspective. A day trip to Grand Canyon National Park from Las Vegas will have you driving through the southern Nevada desert, across the Hoover dam and then into Arizona. It's almost a shame to take just one day. Make it an overnight adventure and you might get to see more of the park and even work in a decent hike into the canyon.
