Christmas trees always make me smile. I'm not sure why seeing as I don't ever really decorate my own tree. I let the entire family do all the work and then I step in and put the giant star on top and then go back to watching hockey highlights. Every year I refrain from any real work aside from dragging the huge noble fir into the house a few weeks before Christmas and then chopping it up and putting it in the wood pile in early January. However, it's the sight of the tree and the holiday season that makes me excited. The cool evenings and the anticipation of something special under the tree. It's Christmas and I'm a sucker for a good rendition of Baby, It's Cold Outside and Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer.
While Bellagio is calling it a holiday tree I'm calling it a Christmas Tree because it looks a lot like a Christmas Tree and because it is huge. They lit up the 45 foot tall Shasta Fur yesterday and it is the largest tree ever on display in the Bellagio Conservatory and Gardens.
This year you can see a new feature, a chocolate village crafted from 1,000 pounds of chocolate. I'm pretty sure they'll frown on you trying a piece but you can always walk around the corner to get as much as you want at Jean Philippe. The holiday display will be open until January 5, 2013 with carolers joining the festivities from December 17 - December 25 between 4 and 5 pm.
What are you waiting for, it's December, start getting in the holiday spirit!
