Prohibition in the United States meant drinks were harder to come by. It also meant that finding a spot where you could get a good cocktail became stuff of legends and an inspiration to mixologist up to this day. head to the Cosmopolitan Hotel and you'll find an impressive cocktail program. If you dig a little deeper and walk into Comme Ca you'll be treated to quite a few choices and some cocktails that will have you craving the era of speakeasy joints.
What you should be drinking from the Comme Ca Cocktail menu:
- THYME FOR BOURBON - bourbon, creme de casis, sugar, fresh lemon, thyme sprigs - I have a few "favorite" drinks on the Las Vegas strip and this is now at the top of my list. Yeah, I'm pretty promiscuous and I get around but I can guarantee it will take a monumental drink to overtake this cocktail as the best in Las Vegas for me. The bourbon begs me to sit around and enjoy life while the fresh lemon is just right enough to remind me to take it easy and savor every sip.
- VIDA SIMPLES (LENARD PETERSON ) - rum, Falernum, fresh lime, orange bitter, sugar - This is the drink that you would serve in your backyard if you had the talent, ingredients and patience to make a good cocktail. I am going to try to perfect this drink for the long summer afternoons when I want to annoy my wife by making her friends really happy. "Oh, Zeke is so nice" I can hear them saying it now.
I guess I should mention that they have food at Comme Ca Las Vegas and if I'm being truthful I should tell you that Chef Brian Howard at Comme Ca is one of the most talented chefs on the Las Vegas strip. If you want me to twist your arm you should probably have the "Baby Pig" from the new Bistronomy menu. Crispy Pork, topped with a celery apple coleslaw and a mustard jus that will cripple you. I'm also a fan of the Crispy Skate Grenobloise and the Cassoulet.
You can't go wrong with great cocktails, great food and one of the best views in Las Vegas.
