Do You Need Sushi in Las Vegas?
If I was allowed to (my wife can be brutal) and if my wallet could handle it (what stimulus package?)I would eat sushi and drink sake every day of my live. I would bathe with spicy tuna, pop a little unagi between my cheek and gum and implant wasabi into my taste buds. Alas, life is not perfect so I must pick and choose when to have my treats and lucky for me Las Vegas has plenty for me to choose from.
My definition of perfect sushi would have me on the deck of a catamaran off the coast of Kapalua with the West Maui Mountains in the distance. The fish would have just been caught and my hands would be filled with the simple ingredients that make the freshest of fish do a dance with the flavor receptors in my mouth. Once again, that would be too perfect for me. (Did I mention my wife?)
Las Vegas chefs have the perfect antidote to what ails my desires. The fresh fish comes in by the hour and the presentation at the sushi restaurants on the Las Vegas strip will delight you as they do me. If you want high quality sushi when in Las Vegas I have the answer for you.
Some of the can't miss sushi joints in Las Vegas:
- Yellowtail at Bellagio Resort and Casino
- Sushisamba at the Palazzo
- Sushi Roku at the Forum Shops
- Social House at Treasure Island

Social House at TI is closing in the next day or so. I have not heard if its reopening somewhere else or not, so you’d better go there TODAY if you want Social House!
We like to hit Todai at the Miracle Mile Mall in Planet Hollywood too–all you can eat sushi! It doesn’t have the atmosphere of the places you list but its good, and a great place to experiment with things you’re unfamiliar with
Uh, only Sushi Roku out of those 4 has really good, fresh, “non-catering to Westerner-type” sushi. What about Raku? There was a reason it was featured in GQ magazine several months ago. It’s where the chefs at the high-end restaurants on the Strip go after work.
the best sushi in vegas is way off the strip at a place called SUSHI FEVER!! its awesome!!
I’m surprised that Todai was not mentioned. It’s in the Desert Passage (?) mall at Planet Hollywood. They hve al all-you-can-est buffet.
I can’t believe Makino is never mentioned in sushi lists. The original at Flamingo & Decatur is wonderful – so fresh and an amazing variety. The restaurant itself isn’t fancy, but you can’t beat the food or the price.
